Both hinged and sliding doors are available across our Diamond Grille and Ultra Stainless ranges, and the choice usually comes down to the space you've got to work with rather than personal preference alone.
Hinged doors
A hinged door swings open like a standard door. It suits most single entry doors and needs clearance to swing outward — worth checking if there's a step, planter, or narrow porch in the way. Hinged doors are generally the simpler, more cost-effective option for a standard single doorway.
Sliding doors
Sliding doors run on a track and suit openings where a swinging door isn't practical — think tight porches, doors that open directly onto a walkway, or matching an existing sliding glass door. They don't need swing clearance, but they do need enough wall space beside the opening for the door to slide into.
A quick way to decide
- Got a standard door with clear swing space? Hinged is usually the simpler, cheaper option.
- Tight porch, narrow walkway, or matching an existing sliding glass door? Go sliding.
- Not sure? Send us the opening width and what's on either side of it — we'll tell you what'll actually fit.
