How to read a security screen quote

READ THE FINE PRINT

A good quote should be easy to follow. Here's how a Midway quote is laid out, what each part means, and what to check before you say yes.

The top of the quote

You'll see the quote number, the date issued and a valid until date, which is 14 days after issue. Your name and the site address sit alongside, so check both are right.

The line items

Each opening gets its own line, showing:

Extras and interlocks

Add-ons such as interlocks or sliding track appear as their own lines, so you can see exactly what each one adds to the total.

Subtotal, discount and total

The subtotal is followed by any discount, shown as both a percentage and a dollar amount, then the total due including GST. All prices on our quotes include GST.

Deposit and balance

A 60% deposit is due on acceptance to lock in your job and start production, and the remaining 40% is due on completion. Payment is by bank transfer, with the details and reference on the quote. Typical lead time is 3 to 5 weeks from deposit; our guide to what to expect from measure to install covers the rest.

If a number or a measurement looks off, say so before you accept. It's far easier to fix on paper.

If it says "check measure required"

Sometimes a quote is based on sizes you've supplied or we've estimated, and it will say a check measure is required. That's normal: we confirm the final measurements on site before anything is manufactured.

Check before you accept

Comparing with another supplier's quote

When you lay two quotes side by side, ask each supplier whether installation is included, whether triple lock hardware is included or an extra, which colours are available, and what the deposit terms are. Our security screens buying guide explains what to look for in the product itself.
